Udemy Review

Ease of use

udemy review

Udemy contains course search toolbar. The students are helpful in choosing your course. The design is good so it is easy to identify the courses. It provides too much choice if there are any difficulties  to decide on a course. It contains menus and back buttons to search courses.

Price

Many free courses are available for the students to start their courses. Udemy courses will now be priced between $20 and $50 each. You can use these udemy coupons from couponretailr to get discounts of 50% Off on most courses. But both Udemy’s coupons and instructor’s coupons are capped at 50% off maximum.

Quality

Every course goes through Udemy’s quality standards and is reviewed by the Udemy course quality assurance team. Sales & marketing is done by instructors. I believe there are some interests that are not aligned, that is the quality of content and the business model. Udemy contents are very simple and easy to read and understand.

Learning experience

Classes are mostly video based and provide little resources. Learning experience depends on the quality of the instructors. Need some resources to practice.

Building a Class

Udemy does offer a decent set of tools and clear guidelines for building courses. Udemy offers camera recommendations, resolution guidelines, and the chance to upload test videos. To each lecture, you can attach resources, including text, presentations, audio, video. They also provide the certificate of completion for each and every course.

Help & Support

They have replaced the familiar contact us tab with a small question mark in the corner of the page. This opens a window that lets you search your question with keywords.  If you still can’t find the answer you’re looking for, you can email the company from this dialogue box. Help and support are available, but the site layout makes support options hard to find.

Device Compatibility

Udemy website is compatible with all devices like Macs, PCs tablets, and smartphones Mobile devices require a free app to access courses or watch videos. To run Udemy courses, your system needs Adobe Flash Player 10.0 22+ plugin. Udemy suggests Google Chrome as the best browser for its site.

Pros of Udemy

  1. Enables professionals to share or sell their expertise through courses.
  2. Users can learn or teach via one intuitive interface.
  3. Complimentary certificates of completion.

Cons of Udemy

  1. Limited video captioning and language support.
  2. Many courses are so short they are effectively tutorials.

Conclusion

Udemy is good to find relevant courses. This platform is more about the profit than the quality. Many free courses are available because instructors have to start with giving their courses for free to start their marketing and branding. Some course lasts 30 minutes and costs 25$.
