Udemy is an online learning and teaching marketplace where millions of people learn online. Udemy as a platform for creators provides tools which enable users to create a course, promote it and earn money from student tuition charges. As of writing this post it contains appoximately 11 million students, 40,000 courses and growing rapidly.

I believe there are some interests that are not aligned, that is the quality of content and the business model. Udemy contents are very simple and easy to read and understand.

Learning experience

Classes are mostly video based and provide little resources. Learning experience depends on the quality of the instructors. Need some resources to practice.

Udemy does offer a decent set of tools and clear guidelines for building courses. Udemy offers camera recommendations, resolution guidelines, and the chance to upload test videos. To each lecture, you can attach resources, including text, presentations, audio, video. They also provide the certificate of completion for each and every course.

They have replaced the familiar contact us tab with a small question mark in the corner of the page. This opens a window that lets you search your question with keywords.  If you still can’t find the answer you’re looking for, you can email the company from this dialogue box. Help and support are available, but the site layout makes support options hard to find.

Udemy website is compatible with all devices like Macs, PCs tablets, and smartphones Mobile devices require a free app to access courses or watch videos. To run Udemy courses, your system needs Adobe Flash Player 10.0 22+ plugin. Udemy suggests Google Chrome as the best browser for its site.

Udemy is good to find relevant courses. This platform is more about the profit than the quality. Many free courses are available because instructors have to start with giving their courses for free to start their marketing and branding. Some course lasts 30 minutes and costs 25$.
